There are two plastic “rivets” in the forward facing cavity of the plate holder. You can try to knock them out with a punch but drilling them out is much easier. Once those are removed the “top” of the plate holder is loosely secured with integrated plastic tabs that can be reached from underneath the truck.
I had some plastic push pins left over from all my days of working on my 6.0 and keeping the wire loom off the turbo. They popped right in and covered the two holes...... if that sort of thing bothers you.
Before and after. I'm going to roll without it for a while, I think it gives the truck a nice clean look. It will be easy to put back with screws if I change my mind later.
