18 gauge is what I'm using ,same as the original..

Finding and drilling out the spot welds most of the time and trying not to drill right through. I sharpen a 5/16 " bit almost flat but leaving a point in the middle and try only to break through the top layer then chisel the pieces apart. I don't spend much more than 4 hours in the shop on days I go out there..

I should set a rule to try to spend at least one hour on mine each day. I try to spend one hour a day learning guitar most days.
