was farting around and decided to pull codes off my 93 f150 4.9. No codes at all for KOEO. Started the KOER test. Halfway through the cylinder balance check the motor cut off. Now it's a no start. Not a fuel issue. Starter fluid into the throttle body had no effect. I've used this code reader a number of times before with no problems. It cranks without catching. Did I fry my ECM somehow?
verified no spark, pulled the SPOUT, again no spark. Reattached the SPOUT, pulled the PCM, no spark. Left the PCM off, pulled the SPOUT, no spark. Decided to start over with the primary side of the coil. Constant 12v. checked continuity between the ICM and coil, all within spec. Replaced the ICM. Bingo! Wondering now if the code reader had something to do with the ICM failure as that unit was only 3 years old. the idle g
