Tie rod ends Econoline

Which direction should the tierod ends be facing? The parts diagram for the e-150-e450 shows the tie rod ends with the castle nut on the top yet I've been looking at some E-350 and the tie rods are facing downward with the castle nuts on the bottom. Yet if I look for pictures online, I see a mixture of the tie rod ends facing upwards and facing downwards. I'm not really sure now which direction they should go. I'm also wondering if it varies depending on if it's an e-150, 250, 350, 450, etc.

The stud of the ball joint has a taper to it and the hole in the steering linkage will have a tapered hole to match. They will only go in one way.

Typically 1992-2006 E150s have the tie rod with the stud up and then 2007-2014 they are studs down like the E250, E350 and E-Super Duty (1992-2014).

Thank you. That's the answer I was looking for.
