4x4 front axle interchangeability
But in general, yes I believe the swap is pretty straightforward for the 4-wheel drive trucks. Since the '66 through '79 F100/150/Bronco used the same radius arm type mount and bushings, as well as all of them having the pumpkin on the driver's side (driver's side "drop") the actual fitment should be a done deal.
I believe that even if the widths were not precisely the same, the differences would be so minimal as to not matter.
The wheel bolt patterns were the same too
Both would also have used drum brakes, albeit probably slightly different models. I do not know if the hard line fitting sizes where they mate to the soft lines were different, but I doubt that this would be a deal breaker either.
Pretty sure they used the same, or near the same trackbars as well. The bushings are identical for all years, but that's not a guarantee that the lengths and bends were identical. But I bet they're pretty darn close if not exact.
About the only thing I can think of that may be different enough to require some additional parts could be the tie-rod/draglink setup. Where the tie-rod ends mate up to the steering arms/knuckles might use a different sized tapered hole.
But this too is an area that I doubt would be hard to compensate for, should it prove to be different. Although it could end up with a couple of hundred more dollars if you have to mess with the linkage.
Hope that helps get you started. Good luck with the parts and hope they're as simple a swap as I think they might be.

Will a dent front axle bolt into a bump 1/2 ton's radius arms? - The FORDification.com Forums
You can use 72-75 axles. You might have to change the steering linkage and the trackbar to the dent design as mentioned in one of the forum threads.
