Coolant overflow tank

does anyone have a part number for a coolant overflow tank for a 1986 f 350? After removing it to flush the coolant system it has developed a leak and I can’t seem to find an exact replacement that looks like mine online. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Check your old one for an imprinted or formed part number.

No part numbers marked on parts after 1956, just casting or ID engineering numbers, when applicable.

1983/86 F250/350 6.9L Diesel:

E5TZ-8A080-B (replaced E3TZ-8A080-B & C) .. Coolant Recovery Reservoir / Marked: E5TA-8C045-DA / Obsolete

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

I scored mine off a 88 or 89 bricknose 7.3 at the junkyard, so I assume 87-91 should use the same style our 83-86 trucks use

its leaking from the seam that runs to whole way across the bottom of the tank. There was a bunch of sediment in the bottom of the tank when we pulled it and cleaned it out and apparently it was acting as a seal. Lol I’ve used JB Weld on an old radiator and it held up. I’ll have to see if they have a product for plastic. Thanks

1983/86 is different than 1987/97, see post #4.

i do not run one at all. from new my 88's radiator always leaked until it was 1 inch below the cap/ fill neck. and never anything in the bottle because it also leaked. so i just removed the overflow bottle and leave the radiator 1 inch low.

you don’t have any issues with over heating? How did you plug the port where the overflow hose comes out of the radiator neck?

i did not. i ran the hose down the side of the radiator just like all my other old cars and trucks are.
with the size of the radiator in that truck, it has never run hot, and the fan clutch has never locked up as far as i can tell from the fan making noise.
