1994 F700 vin and axle decode

Hi All, I purchased another F700 a few months ago and im pondering what it would take to do a 4x4 conversion and something that would make it much simpler is if I find a matching axle for the front. Gear ratio and air brakes. The axle tag on my truck is not readable so im hoping that the axle code will be good enough. Otherwise I will have to thind the ratio the old fashioned way. Thank you everyone for your help!

It's impossible to do a VIN & AXLE decode if you don't post the info.

I cannot post pictures on a basic free account apparently. So if someone was able to decode anything with the info given that would be fantastic. If any other info is needed please let me know. Thank you.

Where did you get the VIN, off the left door face or left B pillar sticker or from the registration?

Both the 1980/89 Ford Heavy Truck & 1990/99 Ford Medium Duty Truck Parts Catalogs list M as Class 5 hydraulic brakes with the 16,001-19,500 lbs GVWR

If it was W = Class 6 AIR brakes, 19,501-26,000 lbs. GVWR

Look on the sticker for the TYPE/GVW code, post what it is.

CV (1990/94) = Fuller model FS-5005-B 5 Speed Manual Transmission.

Since the 4th digit of the VIN is W .. I already gave you the info, so I deleted the TYPE/GVW code from your post.

Okay thank you very much for all of that information. Do you have any opinions on making one of these trucks 4 wheel drive? A guy locally has a front axle off of an 89 f800 with air brakes and the transfer case for 1500$. Since the f700s and f800s are real similar to my knowledge should it be as easy as swapping axles, installing the transfer case and linkages, and modifying the driveshafts? Assuming axle ratios match of course.

1971 and later F600's were available with factory installed 4WD. I'm not familiar with F700/800's so equipped, so they may be Marmon-Herrington 4WD conversions.

Parts for 500 and larger series trucks are mostly obsolete, are getting very hard to find NOS .. No one repro's parts for them unless they are the same as F100/350.

Some parts can be found at NAPA and parts stores that specialize in BIG trucks.

The axle says marmon herrington on it so it was a conversion. Ive found basic parts are easy to come by at napa but luckily have not had much of anything break on me.

Keep in mind that most 4x4 conversions used single speed rear axles to keep the ratios the same, if you install a 6.50 ratio front you can not use the 9.07 low range while in 4x4.
If you do things will get real ugly, busted diff gears, blown drive shafts, broken transfer cases.
