Are there anyother fuel pumps that will fit my 302 other than 289-351W? I got the one I have now from a friend that has a pulling truck at the tractor pulls, and they all run big blocks, so I assume the one he gave me is from a 460, but I am not 100% I am headed to the yard tomorrow to get a new one, well, new to me. Cant afford a new one now. I have a 2.8 at my dads. Would this one fit?
All I can say is in aftermarket catalogs they list the sb and bb pumps seperately. Usually if something is universal between the v8's they list it for v8's. So my best uneducated guess is they are different. Go to or call an autopart store and have them compare them. Good luck
Have you considered a rebuild kit? I am almost positive they make rebuild kits for fuel pumps I know they do for aftermarket but it seems like I saw one for stock ones. Worth a look I guess. Later
Well, I went to auto zone and got one for a 76 truck with a 302, thereby getting one without the filter canister, and it ony ran me 12 bucks and it has a "limited" lifetime warrenty- whatever thats worth. Heck, it even came with a gasket! For some reason I think that a 3.8 pump would work, if they ever made a carbed one. I think I remember from somewhere that a 3.8 is a 5.0 without the back 2 cylinders. Oh well. Problem solved! good thing I found out about it before my date tonight, my GF would never let me live it down if we broke down again. She said if we ended up with a "car-b-que", then we would sit at her house every weekend till she gets her honda(Im trying to talk her out of it, but hey, they are cheap and reliable, im not gonna let her rice it out) Thanks fellas!
Is that with your core? I have never purchased a fuel pump from an auto parts store, did not realize they were that affordable compared to $50 for an aftermarket.
No core. I asked for one from a 72, but it was $20 because it has a filter canister made into it, so i got one for a 76 302. When I hooked it up, I put the carb line into a bottle, and she pumped PLENTY of gas, so the volume is there, but I am not sure at what PSI. It has a limited lifetime warentee, and is made by "master".
