Warped intake valve
Anyone know anything about the headgasket kits on amazon? The felpro kits I found are all $250 amazon has some random brands for $100. This trucks just going to be a beater and has other issues so just trying to get the motor running and hoping for the best. Its going to need an upper intake and crossing my fingers the passenger side cat isn't plugged, pretty sure the previous owner drove it this way for awhile.
Also whats up with the throttle plates in the intake? Never seen that system before with the two intake ports per cylinder and the throttle plates in half of them. One of the actuators on the back of the motor for it is broke so gotta get that fixed too.
I figured out what the goofy intake port throttle plate system is. Its called an Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC). I haven't figured out how to get the clips for the actuators. Heres the kicker, I picked up a haynes manual for the thing and was looking in it to get exact names for the parts of this system. Well its showing the IMRC system for 05 and older 4.2s and showing a CMCV system for 06 and newer. Crazy part is the parts on my 01 are the CMCV system. So now I'm wondering if my haynes manual sucks that bad or if my intake/motor got swapped at some point. I pulled up rock auto and searched for CMCV system parts under an 01 nothing but IMRC parts do show up for it. Just so happens CMCV doesn't show up on an 06 though. So I'm confused.
The other thing is I haven't found the lower part of the upper intake manifold. At least all the pictures every I look only shows the upper half. So not sure what to do there either, thinking I might be stuck with the junk yard for both my problems.
