Hello everyone, have used this site as resource for years, and finally need to post with my problem. Amazing how much info is out there !
I have 2008 6.4L superduty.
Short version, 4x4 not working. Vacuum is good, Hubs working. Tcase is not switching. No power to the motor plug when switching.
Motor switches if I apply fused power both directions.
Fuses all pulled (fuse panel and power distribution box) and ohmed good. Relays pulled, switched and confirmed (swapped with lighting relay to prove good ).
No corrosion under power box, all connections looks great in there.
Connectors on tcase have been pulled, cleaned checked etc.
My theory, which may sound nuts is the encoder. Is it possible that with an encoder not working, perhaps the ECM won't send the signal since it doesn't know where the motor currently is ?
Does anyone have a test procedure, resiaresis checks on the pins or anything rather than just buy new ?
Thanks for the time in advance, sorry for the length, but detail is important!
Not going to be much help, but I thought until 2011 CAN was only related to engine function and peripherals like the t-case ran off their own relays without PCM involvement in actuation. It would need to know gear selector position from the PCM for the 4Lo switch but that's it, and it can get that from the cluster?
Or when you say ECM you mean the 4x4 module behind the glove box?
