Aftermarket power liftgate

I have done searching but have not found anything on the market. Does anyone make an aftermarket power liftgate conversion kit for the excursions? If not are there recommended lifts support struts that make the liftgate easier to open. My wife had a difficult time opening it. It has no issues staying open but requires a lot of force to begin to open. Feels like your going to break the handle off.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

I agree - for the $20-$40 it's going to cost ya, new struts are worth trying. Some people go with Liftsupportsdepot.com, some just do eBay or Amazon. I did both hood and hatch struts from liftsupportsdepot, couldn't be happier.

Mine feels like that sometimes and I have a new set of the longer 2x4 length struts. For me it's the seal sticking - I only get this problem after taking it through a car wash. I think the water on the liftgate seal gets down and 'sticks' to the clear material they put on the top of the barn doors...you'll hear it when you open it the day after a car wash - it's like the sound of adhesive separating. I don't know what to do for a solution other than maybe a tiny bit of petroleum jelly on a rag and run it over the bottom seal for the liftgate...seems to work for a few weeks at a time.

Mine acts the same way, most likely because the gas struts are near fully compressed, and in-line with the gate/body angle, at that point you really are lifting the gate and it's near full weight till the gas struts kick in. Sounds like you need to fashion a conical spring or 2, like used under the hood to get you started those first few inches. There may be plenty of clearance between body and gate on the left and right for the spring to compress.

Maybe enough demand and these people will add the X to the list.
