I own a 2003 F-250 5.4 but was wondering what where all the variations of this motor?
I've heard v2 v3 ect. Does anyone have any good links as to what's what? Differences? What was fixed in the next version?
A good private mechanic I use was saying how my version of the motor they fixed a colant problem that used to melt through a housing right into the motor somehow somewhere?
Any info or pointers are appreciated!
EDIT- Just figured out that was refering to different valves, 2, 3. ect.
Interesting, taken from wikipidia- "Originally specs for oil were 10W-30 in Australian models and then switched to 5W-20 for North American models" Squeezing it for more mileage. Anyone use 10-30?
2valve was introduced in 1999, it had 230hp I believe and non PI heads with o ly 4 threads holding in the spark plugs. And it used 10w30 oil.
then in 2002/2003 ford went to the PI heads and intake. (Better flow) which made 265hp and almost had 8 threads holding in the spark plug and used 5w20 oil which was suppose to help mpg. Everything else is the same compared to the 10w30 oil motor so the verdict is out on what 10w vs 5w does.
2005 started the 3valve motors with their own problems
