Description:

Sold our travel trailer, and need something more kid-learning-to-drive and wife friendly. Would take on the road without concern and do, regularly travel with it between Tx and Ks. It has some dings and cosmetic flaws as one might expect, its completely functional and a great ride. Has never let us down. Can get more specific pics but wanted to get things rolling. (well i don't _want_ to... ).

* someone tried to pop drivers door lock and wont take a key anymore, two fobs and two keys
* security system a bit picky, likes to be locked/unlocked via fob

Hiya!

I've been looking to move from an F250 into an Excursion, and yours might be just the ticket. I have a question or two about the possible transaction (would be flying in and driving home) but I don't think I have enough posts / history to be allowed to message you. Can send me an email address where I could pester ya'?

If you've already sold it, congrats!

Howdy! I've lurked here for a while, just creating an account. I'm the fellow who found you through a local Classifieds ad. Found the ad via the vehicle VIN.

I've had two Excursions before. Both were 6.0L Powerstrokes. The first was fully stock, beautifully maintained, one owner, with some big dents. It was 2WD and I sold it for fear of getting stuck with my landscape trailer. I traded it in for the second one at a sketchy RV dealership in Belton that I cannot recommend after they stopped answering my calls. The second was 4WD fully Bulletproofed, and in pretty good shape. But it was LOUD (as only 6.0s are) and rusty (it spent some time up north...). It *did* get stuck in the mud once so I was grateful for 4WD. But I got tired of the monthly $2000 visits to my diesel mechanic so I sold it to a kid.

I'm hoping to pick this one up today, and finally have something quieter and more reliable than the other two! Just need to learn how to deal with Timeserts now...

I'd rather do one Timesert than a turbo, though... or an aftermarket cooler...

Do you know of anywhere relatively close that has a loading ramp so I could drive it on a step deck trailer? Maybe a tractor dealership.

Let me update things, turns out during a final run through the 4wd does not engage the transfer case, no light on dash, that old story. I had clicking relays, no motor moving. I swapped out the motor, now I have no clicking relays. I pulled out the GEM and its perfectly clean, no corrosion, which in a way was disappointing. I've checked the switch on the dash, resistances all seem right. If I manually trigger relays with the cases taken off I get voltage to the transfer case motor. So I'm down to testing continuity along the way now, but its just been hard to get much time to string together the last week.

So as it stands, no 4wd. I'd be fine to negotiate to sell it as is, or I'll keep poking at it and see what I can come up with.

@Lance Helmert I do not off the top of my head, but if it turns out we need to figure that out I'm glad to help sort it out.

I'd like to buy it. I'm not sure when I could get there. I'll have to find a place to load it. Hopefully no one else buys it before I figure it out. I'm not worried about the 4wd, I don't have plans to drive it for awhile anyhow. We're not fans of flying, but maybe could take a train and drive it home.
