The clutch from hell
I have a 1989 F150 with the 5-speed Mazda transmission.
I had my clutch replaced at a local shop, and immediately noticed it grabbing. The shop replaced it, but after about a week the grabbing got bad again. They said it was because I was pulling my landscaping trailer. The second time around they warned me, but I had already pulled the trailer about 10 kilometres when they called.
Now they have machined my flywheel for a second time and installed a third clutch for free, which is great, but I'm getting some interesting noises from my transmission. There's a rotating, grinding noise when I'm in neutral, which goes away when the clutch is depressed.
The shop says this "new" noise is coming from the bearings in the transmission, not the throw out bearing.
Are they just sick of me coming back, or is it just a strange coincidence that this happened now?
My transmission has been whining in all gears except 4th for the past year, but this noise is definately new.

does it sound like a singing or spinning sound, my work van does it underload. i think the mechanic said it was a shaft or collar spinning around the bearing or something to that effect. they forgot to do something. especially if they couldnt get it right the first two times. my point is that mine makes this kind of noise but my works mechanic hasnt been too excited about it and so far it has only been annoying.
