bellowed up pipes, and DieselSite mechanical waste gate controller. I also will be replacing the down pipe with a mandrel bent 3 1/2" pipe that'll mate to my stock exhaust that has a 4" Aero turbine muffler.
I just finished rebuilding Sous' turbo with the KC turbine and it is ready to go in ( a shame because the turbo was in like new condition and all was tight and pretty). I'll be starting work the middle of the month as soon as deer season ends here in Georgia. It'll take a few days as I'm also replacing o rings, rebuilding HPOP and lines, resealing fuel bowl and installing FRX, and a few other little things. This started out with an oil leak in the valley and has snowballed. At any rate if y'all are interested in how this conversion works on a pretty much stock truck that hauls heavy (19000 Lb hay wagon) I'll post my thoughts.

I am glad to see you posting this! I knew you were going this route because of our previous conversations, but didn't want to throw your name into the ring without you knowing.

Good luck with your mod-fest and we look forward to your results.

Quoted this from the OBS sub-forum. Some interesting info regarding the weight of the SXE vs. stock.

The old turbine and shaft weighed in at 408.5 grams. The scale maxes out at 1,000 grams and the new turbine maxed it out. It weighs something more than 1,000 grams although I'm guessing not much more but it clearly weighs considerably more than twice what the old turbine weighs. The new and old compressor wheels were within a gram of each other at approximately 120g.

Not the prettiest setup but it tows good. Trailer is pretty heavy and the bed is full of supplies so it makes for a good test. Went about 500 miles today over some pretty hilly terrain and am pretty happy with the performance of the turbo. Running the 80hp tune and am digging it. EGTs have been great. Stays pretty cool lugging it too. Trying my hardest to get it hot I lugged 1200-1900rpm a few times. 8/10 times it would only go to 1250*egt and 2/10 times it barely hit 1300*. So briefly that as soon as the motor started to spin 2000rpm EGTs dropped. Miami Valley, Ohio Valley and Northern KY has been all 4th gear OD around 1900rpm. As much throttle as I can give it before it downshifts netted max 1200* egt, upon downshift EGTs dropped to 1100*. Pulls great at 1900rpm and gains speed up grades no problem. More tomorrow.

Just went up Jellico on I-75 southbound.

3rd gear at 57mph/2200rpm around 15-16psi. EGTs were 1150* all the way up. Touched 1200* for a second while accelerating.

I'm sure it is a combination of parts working together.

What size is that 12 point socket end on the KCSXE turbine? I went ahead and ordered one of these for my van turbo project now I see that is a socket I don't have either.

None on the turbine. However for all the stock turbo's turbine/compressor housing bolts you'll need a 12 point 5/16" or 8mm deep well 1/4 drive socket for assembly/disassembly

I would be interested to see how the KC "SXE" turbine wheel performs in an OEM Garrett housing which I believe is .84...

Some of you other fellas should get on the ball and get'r dun! Look at me, barking orders to get something done when it took me 3+ weeks to get my Borg Warner SXE installed...

19mm I think. Don't quote me on it though.
