Here you can see the missing piece. I just used the other for comparison. But I cut the housing off and cleaned it up around the edges.

And this is the passenger side. The swing arms are identical, so no issue with being in time with each other.
Now I have to make a connector bar from driver's to passenger's side.

Notice the brass nut on the swing arm? That not a nut...it's actually a bushing. I believe someone here said that a rubber grommet went over the brass bushing. Why they used a bushing to look like a nut?? Who knows..LOL

The "nut" bushing pops off with little effort. Notice the snap ring groove on the end of the shaft?
My next move is to fabricate a connector arm from one side to the other. I haven't decided what I want yet.
I thought about a flat bar with the right sized oil-lite bushings. I also thought a mini tube with heim joints, but that might be overdoing the simplicity. Not sure yet.
The swingarm shafts are just under 1/4" diameter.

Ok so that's about all I got. I was fighting the picture posting problem and I am very frustrated with that! But I got thru it.
So please tell me what you see. I don't see why this won't work.
Nice thing about this too, You can use the vacuum motor if you prefer.

I would love to see a picture of the connecting arm that goes from the driver's side to the passenger's side. If anyone has a picture please post!
I'm talking a real picture, not the illustration from a parts breakdown. I would like to know exactly what it looks like.
Thanks!

Can you tell me how the "missing piece" connected to the shaft? Mine is there but slipping around the shaft.

Thanks!

The original is staked in. The new reproduction replacement has a set screw to secure it. If yours is slipping around the shaft, then the internal splines are stripped. The "missing piece" is the part the wiper arm slides over. It is either pot metal or aluminum. The shaft itself is steel.
Hope that helps!

Jeff,
I like where you are going with this. I have the stock linkage out in the shed somewhere. When I get home from work tomorrow I can go out to the shed and see if I can dig it up. If so I can take some pictures and measurements for you.

That would great Bobby. Thank you.
I measured from center to center of the shafts and got right at 16.5" Since the bellcranks are identical that should be a pretty good starting point.
A picture and measurement would make me a happy camper!

Jeff,
I managed to get some pics posted. I've tried this 3 times now and still can't get it right. I don't know what happened to my explanation the first couple of times...ugh.
Here are some pics of the 48-50 linkage set-up and then a 50-51 set-up.
The linkage piece for the 48-50 trucks appears to be approx. 3/32" thick and roughly 1/2" wide. It looks like its 16 5/8" hole to hole.

Bobby
