need some help. my 351 w runs good has good oil pressure but when you hold a constant rpm it rattles. under power or when you let off the gas it does not make any noise. it sounds like a lifter noise not a rod knock. any ideas would be apperciated. thanks jack
I would think it was pinging (preignition) but you said that it doesnt do it under load.
check your timing and see if that helps.
use the vacuume gauge method.
which is (if I can remember right) unhook the vacuume advance, and hook a vacuume gauge to a port on the MANIFOLD. then start the truck and move the distributor until you find the highest vacuume level, then back it off by 1.
