I have access to a donor tbird w good 4.6/auto for a early bronco project....I forget year, but remember that it was 1st year for 4.6.... I was hopin it was a 302 for simplicitly....
. Over on early bronco page, they said that these engines are junk & flamed me pretty hard
.... It is for my wife, she doesn't care about hp, I kinda do
tyvm in advance for info
A 4.6 swap would be a very nice swap as the early Bronco is light. However, the early bronco has a very small engine compartment and about the only V8 that will fit is the smallblock with the 8.2" deck height. The 351W will bolt in but the hood has to be modified for clearance. The 4.6 with 2, 3, or 4 valve per cylinder is a very wide engine and I think serious modifications would have to be made. It's not worth the hassle.
I would suggest a stock fuel injected 5.0 as a very nice fit and one that if you keep the EEC-IV with Mass Air flow sensor it shouldn't be that difficult to wire up. 215 or so hp in that little vehicle will be plenty.
