You're missing part of the clip setup. I can't recall what goes in the hole in the clip shown in the picture, but I can tell you getting the nut on the stud is tricky.

Can anyone see a picture in my post above??? I can't see it when I look at this thread, but it shows when I try to edit the post. Pics never seem to work for me on this site.

X2 on you need the angled metal part that is crimped in the front and yes the small rectangle piece you have like a pin stud goes in that hole in the pic. The one just past the side marker lens is installed thru the cut out and then slide fwd. Then 3 plastic piece that are held on by rivets. They slid off and on BTW. Then the same metal bracket like the middle is used on the rear by the fender edge.

Pics will not load....I text them to you.

I know it's an old thread but I was wondering where you got this piece? I can't find it sold by itself anywhere. One of mine is missing and the other is rusty and may not last. I also don't have the stud pieces that attach them to the fender but I see them on LMC and Dennis Carpenter

I have a fender in my pile right now that has those I think... My truck doesn't have any trim. I will look in a bit and if they work for you, you can have em'.

OK... I just went out and looked at my fender. The clips look different than yours, so not sure if they would work or not.
Front side and backside has a little bolt that holds them on place. I do have 2, on the 1 fender I have.

That's the clip for the narrow trim as used on the Ranger model, not the wide black insert trim.

I have a 2021 f250, 2 years old, 40k mikes, so just over mileage bumper to bumper. I have the best extended warranty and dealer said they can’t cover. I can’t believe this is not being cover w this design and only 2 years old. 80k on a truck and now this, leather on seats already cracked. Where is a Ford rep on here to help, do I need to stop doing business w Ford,

Think this is the wrong upper moulding thread your looking for, but something pulled it out of there..carwash, pressure washer, someone used as a grab handle. Put some 3m weather strip adhesive under it, hold it down with something or tape it down till dry and forget about it. Its not going to cause any leaks or anything like that.
