61 to 66 truck in Hillsdale College commercial

I saw this nice 61 to 66 truck in a Hillsdale College commercial tonight. I usually hangout on the 48 to 56 forum as I have a 54 and a 55 so I'm not an expert on this series. So I'm not sure what year it is, but it is a nice two tone truck.

It's about a farm boy leaving home and driving to college in his Ford truck. Reminds me of myself.

here's a link to watch the whole thing in case you haven't seen it on TV.

A bit tough for me to see but it looks built. Appears to be a 4x4 judging by the height. It seems to have front leaf springs and if factory that would be 65 F100/F250, and that is what the fender emblem appears to be. The box is wrong for this however, as a 65 4x4 wou;d have a 57-60 style box. A 66 F100 4x4 would look like this but have coil springs up front. The truck sure is pretty though!

There is an alternate 60 second spot as well and it shows a bit more of the truck. The instrument cluster is using the sweep style speedometer which would imply 1965-66 F100/250 2WD Custom Cab or 1966 F100 4x4 Custom Cab. I agree there looks like front leaves so that eliminates all of those choices. It's a Frankentruck as far as I can tell.

Pretty truck.

But the mirrors are definitely newer style, the Custom Cab script is missing from the doors and I have no idea what the wheels are from. Doesn't look like any shifter on the column so it must be a floor shifter.

But I like the truck a lot.

Not a Frankentruck at all. In the shot from the rear you can see the coil spring on the front axle. It may well have other mods but aside from the mirrors, the front bumper extended forward, probably a winch behind it, it looks like a 66 F100 4x4.

I bought my 54 F100 from my grandfather in June 1977. I used it to go to summer school at a nearby college then drove it 150 miles to finish my schooling that fall and graduate in December. Oh, if that cab could talk.... I'd still be in trouble!

And that truck in the commercial is a pretty truck!

That's awesome, Murphy! I like the fog lights and the horns on the roof. Are they air horns?

Do the guys in school like your truck? How about the girls?

I'm guessing that your truck had a prior life as a Fire Dept. vehicle based on the horns, lights and color?
I have a friend that has a 1966 F250 that is the former Sebastopol Ca. Fire Dept. Fire Chief truck.

I am going to say it is a 66 F100. Right at the beginning I make out what seems to be a 66 grill. I will agree with the front coil.

What I think Brad and I thought was the leaf spring is the radius arm. I think the truck has been raised a bit versus a stock height 1966 F100 4x4 which exposes the radius arm a bit more.
