Well .500 lift as mentioned is a good rule of thumb with stock springs. You can run a larger cam but valve float may become an issue, besides the springs will wear out quicker if not bind in some cases. I don't know the modifications or intended usage of the engine fordzman gave to comp cam but I called them and told them 2wd stock truck 351w aftermarket intake and carb and told them I would not be towing just wanted the truck to perform better all around and they recommended extreme energy 256H which keeps the lift well below the .500 with the greatest lift being .484 on the exhaust side and even lower on the intake. Whatever they recommend should do the trick so give them a call. Good luck

mine is a 85 windsor ho bored 60, balanced with offenhausen 360 intake, inch and five eights shortys and a duel line 750 holley four barrel. it's going in a 85 f150 4x4 with 33 inch swampers.i race in our local mud runs and the pit is 130 feet long. they also wanted my rpm's i would be turning and my gear ratio. i'm going to slap on some gt 40 p's this winter and up grade the ignition as well. hofefully i can win some races this spring...
