I'm reinstalling my auto tranny on my 1997 V6 f150 2wd and I have a general question. My basic question is whether or not you need to put any fluid in the torque converter before bolting it to the tranny/block. I know that fluid gets fed through the system to the converter, but I'm not sure if there needs to be some in there to begin with. Any help is appreciated guys.
I have installed them wet and dry. It won't hurt to pour 1-2qts of fluid into the torque converter before you install it. If you put too much fluid in, it will spill all over when you tip the converter up to install it.
