Done some searching win here and on the ole google machine and im not seeing many options for reliable brake upgrades for an '89 F-150. I was hoping fo find something a little more robust than a $22 brake caliper. Now to be honest I don't have a reason that I need a bigger Badder brake caliper I.e. super fast truck or heavy towing, but I would like to have the piece of mind that I have a quality product stopping my truck. Thanks for any direction anyone can provide.

What do you mean by quality product? Buy the ford pads and rear shoes, as good as quality as there is. No need to upgrade anything the stock brakes will be more than adequate for your needs.
Replacing the stock booster with a hydroboost or the larger vacuum booster from a F350 is generally the cheapest and easiest way to improve braking performance.
Have the calipers checked or otherwise try to find out if you have plastic pistons or steel. Once you have the steel, then it's on to making sure your other components (like the hoses, check the hoses!) You can experiment with high dollar pads, but the basic problem is these are small rotors and single piston brakes. Other than the plastic pistons, the quality of OEM brakes is fine. You just have to operate within the limitations.
