Trans swap
I have a 1950 F1With the 226 six cylinder, it has the optional 4 speed on the floor. I would like to find a 48-49 3 speed floor shift as it has synchronized 2&3 gears, I believe it will bolt right up to the engine? Question is the drive shaft length and hole for the shifter? Thanks for any info

I’m not sure about the hole for the shifter, but I can tell you for certain that the driveshaft will be different. The 4-speed crash box that you currently have has a fixed yoke on it and the slip joint is in the shaft itself. The light duty 3-speed has a slip yoke and a solid driveshaft.

If you can find a t87d heavy duty 3spd floor shift it is synch'd 2nd 3rd and is an exact 4spd replacement. I replaced a 4spd in my 52 f1 with one and it fit perfectly, and is so much nicer to drive.

So I found a ld 3 speed to replace my 4 speed crash box, I know the drive shafts are different but besides replacing it with a the solid drive shaft from the 3 speed, are there any other options?

Shouldn't be too hard to find one from a 48-50 that had a LD 3 spd in it?
You can have one made if you have a decent shop near you but there has to be a bunch of originals in decent shape out there.
