Reading through the owners manual it shows there are " Draiver alert warning, rest now" and "Driver alert warning, rest sugested" messages. Has anyone seen these?
I cant find any information as to why these would display. The only thing I cant think of is too meny triggers on the lane departure alert.
I saw there was one that said "keep hand on the wheel" also. I wonder how that gets its info? How does it know the difference between tired and not keeping your hands on the wheel?
Again, that was on my F150, not sure about the Super Duty. No need to find an open road, just drift over the lines. This is a bit corny, dated and not exactly what we have.
Today I intentionally drifted over/past the painted lines on the road. I did it multiple times and never got a driver alert but got the steering wheel shaker every time.
I've seen them and a cup of coffee icon on my wife's explorer. Yep, sometimes I wonder. My truck does not have lane assist as Ford, in their infinite wisdom, tied the moon roof and land departure system together.
I don’t have the nannies in my Superduty, but my employer has them in my new company truck. Apparently, I should have died a million fiery deaths over my 50 years of driving. That is all...
My Super Duty doesn’t have this, but my SHO does, the lane alert on it even has autocorrect where it will keep you in the center of the lane, turned it on one day and let go on an open section of road to see what happened, it very soon alerted me to keep my hands on the wheel, kinda creepy it knew I had let go. I think the rest suggested alert comes up if I am not staying straight and drifting in the lanes a lot.
I don’t care for all this crap in my truck but I remember feeling the same way when they told me I had to wear a seat belt. It took years for me to get used to the seat belt so maybe in a few years all this stuff will just be second nature. Until then, I hate it!
^^^^ All of the "nanny" functions can be turned off, I believe. I'm liking adaptive cruise, the only thing is when I'm in my little car I find myself wondering why it is not slowing down and I remember, oh, I have to hit the brakes.
I'm one of those that can't wait for self-driving tech to hit the market. Not only could you sleep behind the wheel but, for older folks, it means freedom for a longer period. I am certain it will extend my personal Independence by a some years.
