Smile Another New Coolant -- Longer Life & Less Maintenance

Ford switched to a new fluorescent-ish yellow coolant for F250s and 350s built starting July 9. The new coolant is used for both the diesel and the gasser. The OM Information Supplement that came with our new 2019 F350 states the original factory fill is good for 200K miles or 10 years, WCF, 100K miles or 5 years for subsequent fills, and that no coolant corrosion inhibitor, additive strength check, or additive is required.

Here's a pic of the new stuff in our new truck's degas bottle:

I bet no poorly trained oil monkey will put the wrong stuff in that one.

My 19 is sitting in an autorack here in town waiting to be unloaded. I am ready to get it.

Too bad they aren't instructing dealer to change out the coolant for the new coolant.

Why does everyone have no trouble believing that this new coolant can go 200,000 miles, but cannot believe that modern oils can't last more than 3000 miles?

I wonder if the new coolant is waterless? If so, conversion requires flushing with a scavenging prep fluid first to remove all the remaining water based antifreeze.

The linked imfo doc indicates it’s available in both “concentrated” and “pre-diluted” versions in both the US and Canadian markets.

I assume the diluted formula has been “watered down”?

No it’s still an ethylene glycol based fluid. Low phosphate. Orange is called OAT, yellow is P-OAT. You can buy it in a concentrate or premix.

Got it. Less exciting than waterless but an improvement I guess.

I was so excited to see they did this switch on the 2019's.
I hated doing that testing and those test strips etc. were $$$$.

Here’s what Ford has to say on mixing.....

NOTE: Mixing OAT and P-OAT coolants is not recommended. P-OAT coolant is compatible with OAT coolant; however, coolant service interval will be difficult to determine when the coolants are mixed. For this reason, Ford does not recommend mixing OAT and P-OAT coolants.

Does anyone have the published Ford documentation that speaks to flushing and replacing OAT with the new P-OAT?
