I 00 and it has 76,000 miles on it and I ran into some crappy gas a couple of tankfuls ago and when I start it up it smokes bad. This occurs almost everytime I start. It did it a couple of time before and has always cleared up but it does not seem to be going away. I have not popped any codes and it runs fine except it has dropped roughly 1 mpg. I run motorcraft oil and filters and does not seem to use much more then a a half quart between changes at 3000. So I do not think I am losing it throuh the valves. The only other thing I have noticed is a high idle and it wants to rev to about 2000 and come down slowly. I have been around this sight for just under a year and can not rember anyone with this problem any help would be great.

Boy I hate to say I don't know and I have never heard of this before but I'm at a loss. It appears everyone else is too. But I didn't want your post to go unanswered, but I just have nothing to say that may help. If all you did was get some bad gas, it doesn't seem like you should have a smoking motor, I'm lost.
What vis oil do you run in your engine? I know this may start a debate, but if it is thicker than recommended, the bearings/journals may be getting hot enough to "burn" a little oil.
At 76K the 90 deg ell that attaches to your TB and to the PCV valve could have collapsed and is not allowing the engine to "breathe"
If you suspect it's just bad gas, the first thing I'd do is get a good gas treatment and use that for a couple of tanks and see if it helps. If that doesn't work...or if you've already tried that...then I'm not sure what the next step would be. You might try changing the fuel filter if you haven't already. Maybe that will help.
panzerbrumbar hey ford buddy i have had a previous experience
with my mod motor doing the same thing also on the idle going up to about 1500k & 2000k rpm & not wanting to settle down either.1st course of action is look @ the connector on the tps
[throttel position sensor] if it checks out fine with a digital volt
meter back probe the wires to find a base line voltage level.[now make sure that this done with key on engine off also make sure you only use a digital volt meter not an analog it could feed back voltage in to the circuit] If the volts are not up to specs replace the tps sensor.Asfor the smoke it sounds like it was just a pufing of smoke not a full blown constant pouring of it out me & my mechanic came to the conclusion that tps out of wack & not triping codes was causing eratic fuel pressure never the less puffing & high idle went away with replacement of tps.
good luck turbo ted.

That makes sense to me. I will talk to the boys and see how much one is if it is under 50 bucks I will just replace if more I know a guy that works at the dealership and tell me the voltages. Thanks again to everyone for there help and even just looking and thinking. I will keep you posted.
Well boys I have good news. It worked. I replaced the PCV valve first and it dropped my idle to 1,000 rpm instead of 1100. The old one was loose but I think it was sticking sometimes. Then I replaced the tps sensor. It was a simple job just screwdriver was required (and a set of chinese fingers after I dropped it down on top of the block). Now I am idling at 900 rpms warm and it revs up and back down in a timely fashion. And I looked a my overhead computer and gained 1 mpg. And all for 52 dollars. Thanks again everyone for their time and suggestions. I just does not get any better then this.
