Roller Ready?
I know it's a "roller ready" block, but not equipted. What would it take to convert it to a roller block....What parts do I want to replace...opf course have to bracket for the lifters..but what else..cam, and what-not? Is the 50oz flexplate for late model 302 "roller" or non-roller for all 91 302's? it has a serpatine belt system (dont have the money to convert to that right now) is that gonna be the 50oz balance or the 28oz???
Are roller rockers worth it? i Heard the block I bought was rebuilt less than 50,000 miles ago, and was from Wolverine truck?? Are there any certain specs (visually) that I cn tell what type of pistons were used (high compression, vs. low...year???) I know for my old truck, with the I-6 the 81's supposedly had the higher conpression, and was "D" shaped on the piston head, instead of "O" shaped en-grooving? Any hints for this 302 (first time with v-8...well, anything powerful!)
It will end up carburated for now, till I can afford the FI stuff, but what about this motor for the 91, mainly, that flexplate balance, is that the off-balance with 50oz or the reg. with 28oz?
Any help, and even off-subject (at least about the 302) e-mail will be appreciated...I have an 84 "no rust" bronco in Michigan, and no money...lol, I WANT a good engine...lol
