Hello, I am installing a new/used Ford OEM Trailer Hitch Receiver on my F350. I have the bed off and the spare tire removed for another project. I have all new grade 8 Bolts, washers and nuts. I have the Hitch in place and not tightened down yet.
My problem is that the receiver is not centered. It's off by about an inch. What do the forum members think is causing this? I just removed an identical Hitch that was rusting from the inside out due to the previous owners camper inserts. That was centered perfect.
The OEM bolts are 10.9 and the new bolts and hardware are grade 8.
Do I need to do a little grinding on the Hitch bolt holes maybe to get it to center?
Thanks
The OEM bolts where metric, 10.9 is the basically the same as grade 8. I would measure your new hitch and compare it to the old one to see why it is not centered, it may not be built correctly. If you do elongated the mounting holes to center it I would make sure you use very heavy, like 1/4 inch or heavier washers to cover the holes to prevent any kind of "pull through" with the hardware.
