Just bought this truck today. Thought I would throw a post in here to say hello? Not sure if the photo is visible to others in my album or not. Just figuring out what is needed to be done on this truck. So far some damp oil pan bolts, damp diff covers on the bottom, a liitle trans fluid on the input shaft on the trans, and some minor wetness on the left cylinder head along the back on the bottom as seen through the fenderwell. Other than that she is pretty sweet. And a real handfull to drive with the power assist steering and 39.5s

Thought I would say hello. I am not sure if my pic is visible or not? Just bought her today and am sorting through the minor issues to repair. Oil pan bolts damp, diff covers damp on the bottom, input shaft dripping a little trans fluid and a damp lower cylinder head on the lower left bank. Anyway....I hope I can learn a thing or 2 about this beast in here. She is fun to drive, but a handfull with 39.5s and power assisted steering.

Newbie,
Is this your first 73-79?
Michigan is a rough place to keep one of these old rust buckets. Keep her out of that salt! I lived in Waterford for six years.

Nah.............

I figured it out. Thanks!

This is not my first 73-79 truck. I have had so many trucks I doubt that I could remeber them all honestly. Although it has been a while since I have driven an old girl like this one. She will be well cared for in the inclimate weather. I have taken a magnet all over the body and can find no filler at all. This truck is spotless on the underside other than a few minor wet spots that are being repaired as we speak. I am going to put a fresh set of TSL's on her along with a set of headers and a custom stainless exhaust with some flowmasters and just drive it. I actually have a 2001 Excursion with a Powerstroke with a Fab-Tech 5.5 " lift fully sprung with dual shocks an Welds with 35" SSR's. It has a whopping 4700 miles on it. That is actually getting ready to go out on the FOR SALE block. I have had it since early 2001 original owner, and you can see by the miles I don't drive my stuff a lot due to the fact we have a couple normal vehicle leases and I run my company from a home office. So as usual I will most likely take this old girl to the limit like I do everything else ;-)
