ok so who runs tcw 2 stroke oil in their PSD ? Other than quieting the injectors, what is the REAL benefit ? I have seen the "charts" but I have no idea what that really means. Is the 2 stroke oil REALLY beneficial ? Thinking about buying a gallon at Walmart =P
First off you need to use the proper 2 stroke oil (no I don''t remember the right stuff). Personally I run Stanadyne (sp?) There are others with better ratings but the folks that designed the injectors formulated it.
Greetings ViperMan;
I've been running a combination of "Power Service" additive, and 2 Cycle oil from Walmart now
for the last 13 years, and nearly 200,000 miles...
My mixture is, approximately 6-7 oz. of Power Service, and 24 oz. of 2 cycle oil mixed into an empty
Power Service plastic bottle...
Dump the 1 Quart mixture every 1/2 tank...Into my Excursion, that's approximately 20+ gallons...
Does it work..???????????????????????//
I don't now !!!!!!! The only thing I can say is, the truck is running GREAT...
NO PROBLEMS WITH THE INJECTORS NOW COMING UP TO 280,000 miles...
The reason why I switched to it, was back then [2005 ?], they took the sulfur out of the Diesel, and everybody was talking about what to do....
And somebody recommend that mixture....
So, I did it....
The only thing I can say, is that it seems to not have hurt the engine any...
2 stroke oil certainly does something, for 2 stroke engines. My truck has 300k miles on it and it has lost one injector during that time with NO additives.

13 years, I think that is a pretty good test sample lol
I've read that you should only run the ashless kind. Which is the marine stuff at Wal-Mart, not the power tool kind. I only run hot shots and the winter power service tho
I've never run 2 stroke oil and only occasionally put some Power Service in the tank. My injectors were still going strong at 305K miles when my o-rings started to give out and I made the decision to replace the injectors while everything was out.
I was planning to go 400K on the original injectors if not longer.
My last comment would be..
The Diesel fuel we are currently running in our 7.3 diesel engines is ""NOT"" the kind of diesel fuel our engines were designed to use...
You have to remember back then, when they changed to fuel mixtures, MANY vehicles had problems with the 'new' fuel mixtures...""O" rings and other components....
The " 6.0 lt."" engine changed everything....
Diesel fuel prices used to be lower than regular gasoline....
""NOW"" it's up to .25 cents a gallon MORE....
It's not that they added anything...
It's what they took out....lubricity....

I was running TCW3 2 stroke oil typically 1 quart at fill up. I've never had an issue with injectors, first set replaced at 351K miles of which 6 were original. I can't tell you if a PO ever ran anything in the tank. As I said, I was running tcw3 with every fill up, however, I switched to Archoil 6200, It lubricants the injectors and also controls microbial growth and removes water etc. I use this regularly now but keep a quart of TCW3 in the toolbox.
Archoil AR6200 Fuel Treatment TWO PACK - 2 x 16oz Bottles - Treats 1,000 gallons of fuel
The short answer, no, don't waste your money....or time having to dump in the tank. If you want a bunch of explanation, I'll provide it. With our trucks, it just isn't necessary.

There's fine print in everthing. But if you've strapped on this mechanisam for a quarter million miles, I, myself would start learning and listening,
I have a quarter mil on my plant, Ran straight jet fuel, JP-8 to be exact for better than 3 years, no additives and that stuff is thin. Made my own diesel out of Kero and gas and french fry oil for 9. Never touched an injector, pulled the VC's to do glow plugs once. Other than common maintenance. No concerns. E 99 f250 x cab sb. Work it like a horse year round pulling or plowing. It generally gets lubed on a friday night.
In short, this gen of truck will run on deeper bull**** than's going on here and still haul the mail.
