Manual Trans

I am just about ready to buy an F250 with a 5.4 V8 either new or late model used. I would like to get the 6 spd. manual but can't find one. One dealer went so far as to say there are none in the state (California). While I guess I'm not so opposed to the auto I would prefer the stick, figguring I can drive that forever so why should I pay an extra $1100 for something I don't really want and will probably have to overhaul at some point? Any thoughts guys?

I too like the manual tranny, until my first clutch went out... Almost $1,100 dollars later (mine is the diesel so it may cost more), the extra money for an auto didn't seem so bad. But I do still enjoy my stick. I did have to special order mine as very few could be found with the 6-speed.
Good Luck

Well I figgure I can replace a clutch myself, but can't rebuild the auto myself. Also I tend to be able to drive a clutch forever without problems, I realize not everyone does that. just my opinion.
