I am considering ditching my current 2005 V10 F250 and 2016 F150 in favor of a single new F250. I have never custom ordered a truck but don't feel like compromising at all this time. The build section of the Ford web site is still based on MY 2018. Do I need to sit down with a dealer to get an accurate price and equipment breakdown for a 2019? Will they give me a printout so I can them go to multiple dealers for competition or will I need to go through the process with each individual dealer. Please enlighten me on the process. Thanks.
I built mine on the 18` site, like many others, and then had a dealer order the options I wanted and I signed the order and they noted it was a `19 and not a 18`.
I was very specific about my order, hopefully they didn't **** it up.
I ordered in April and missed the 18 orders so mine is a 19. I used the 18 configurations and everything matched up except the black paint (it changed). Regardless there are no major changes so the build sheet will match up at a dealer when they build an order for you.
it's really easy to build and price a new truck or car at a dealer. The real question is what price or deal or incentives will you get or negotiate. Regardless go build one on fords website and see. Take that to a dealer and just see what they will do! There is no harm in that.
it will have the invoice price and MSRP, then print that out and take it to your dealer.
Best recommendation so far. Here’s an example of mine that I built on the NADA site, I took to dealer and they ordered. MSRP price matched perfectly with their build on their system.
And here’s the print out of the last page of the 2 page screen shot of the order for my 2019 F350. Sales manager’s hand written note on agreed price on that page.
I used the Ford site to build a 2018 and NADA to build a 2019. The total price was only off by less than $300. I didn't immediately see where the difference came from but it is insignificant. The NADA site was definitely easier to use with much better explanations of what was included in various packages and how certain selection impact previous choices. Using the NADA site, I built a loaded Lariat that came in at $75,420 MSRP and a comparably equipped Platinum that was $81,120. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the trucks is the Platinum specific trim and equipment (brushed trim pieces, massaging seats, etc.) and I stuck with 18" wheels on the Lariat. I am a little surprised at the price difference. I guess some polished 20" wheels, a butt rub and some extra cache cost about $6K.
Each dealership is different. Just call the dealership and tell them you want to order a truck. They will set you up with someone who can help you. I used the Internet sales rep I’ve used in the past. I just emailed him the NADA sheet and told them the interior and exterior colors. I told them to price it via X-plan. When I got there he already had Entered the order in the system but hadn’t done the final confirmation. The whole visit took 30 minutes and that was only because I had them give me a trade in price on my 2017 F350.
The next day I called and renegotiated the trade in price up ON THE PHONE. When we agreed on a final trade in price I said send me it in writing and push the order button. No money changed hands. This dealership sales manager knows me as I’ve bought 3 trucks from him in the past.

The only price difference between 18-19 superduty Crew Cab Short Bed I ordered is the base price went up $210. All options are priced the same.
The key to a custom order is after they enter the order and submit it to Ford, they get a Dealer Order Acknowledgement back from Ford. You want to get a copy of that right away, and then go over it in detail to make sure it exactly matches what you expected. It's the truck you're getting - which hopefully matches what you ordered. If it doesn't, you need to get the dealer to fix it ASAP. And if a fix is required, you want the new DOA, and repeat until happy.
I haven't done this with Ford yet but with other purchases I called around to dealerships and asked if they would do $500 over invoice. If they said no I called the next place until I found a dealership that would. What is X-Plan? Sounds like FlyCt got a price less than invoice?
Thanks for the help!

Steve,
X-Plan is fixed prices offered to employees of companies that are Ford Partners. Some organizations such as EAA (Experimental AIrcraft Association) can also utilize X-Plan. EAA is a great organization and only costs $40 to join. You don’t need to be a pilot to join. https://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/eaa-membe...nition-program
Another way is to own at least 100 shares of Ford common stock for at least 90 days.
X-plan pricing is clearly at the bottom of the vehicle invoice which dealerships are required to show X-Plan buyers. X-Plan buyers are also eligible for all normal rebates. X-Plan also limits dealship fees to a maximum of $100.
X-Plan price comes out very close to Invoice price for a SuperDuty truck.. My understanding is with Ford vehicles X-Plan price is 0.4% BELOW invoice plus an administration fee of $275. All details here: https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerw...tner_rules.htm
I will tell you about my late 2017 F350 order and my experiences and opinions. I really believe in ordering what you want. Not settling for one on a lot. Find a dealership you like...service or price etc. I used the Fleet Manager at a dealership that deals with my employer. He priced it to match what he sells them for no haggling. I am sure you can find a better price if you work on it. It was invoice, plus $850. I sat down with him and we input into his computer. I had built in online many times so had a good idea but he was helpful in advice. He provided a print out, and updates as I asked for them. Where I made money was he sent me to the car show to get the $750 Ford offer that was available only there. Also, I went in late May and there was a 2 week extra incentives...$2000 + $3000 extra for a total of $5000. These incentives were locked in but had the choice of those or what was available when it arrived. So timing is important. If you order right now, there is no incentives for the 2019 as start of model year. I was really happy with the process and got EXACTLY the truck I wanted. And I believe I got a pretty good price at the end of the day...The truck MSRP was $75,500 CDN and paid $62,000 CDN plus tax. I ordered a F350 CCLB 6.2L Lariat in Ruby Red. In Canada, with any Lariat you can add Power Running Boards and I did....upfitter switches, dual battery, EE Heavy Duty Alt, Navigation, Wheel Well liners, Camper Package, Floor Mats, Remote Start, 5th wheel prep, 360 Camera, and console. Whatever you choose, it will be a nice ride. Good luck and really recommend a custom order.
