Angry Looking for thoughts

OK Since I dont have any of my own, I need some thoughts on where to go to first. The engine, water pump, thermostat and radiator have 63k on em. Just within the past 3 weeks, I have noticed the temp guage rising a bit more than normal. Nothing drastic just like going from dead center on NORMAL to the A. Yesterday on my way home, I looked down and OMG!! The needle was all they way up to the H mark. It held there for about 15 secs, then within about another 20 secs, it dropped back down to the almost center on NORMAL. It did this about 3 times when I stopped at a light. So I made it home and parked it. Didn't get a chance to check anything out but I did get another thermostat on my home just in case. This morning, if I sit at a light, the temp starts heading up..but if I set the tranny to Neutral, then it holds at about the A. If I am moving along down the road, it is almost center. At one light I did power brake it a bit just to get my RPMs up to about 1000, and it was about center then too. It does idle fine at 500 like usual very smooth. Now I am not sure where to start....Water pump, thermostat, flush the system....etc. The fluid level is good and is flowing just fine. No leaks. Any thoughts? Oh and what temp thermo should I have?
(Sorry for being so long winded. Wanted all info out in the open)

Thanks Everyone!!

It could be the fan clutch. Sounds to me like the fan is not doing it's job at low RPM.

Well, grab on to it (engine not running of course) and see how easily it spins and if it wobbles. It shouldn't spin REAL easily, there should be some resistance and it shouldn't wobble at all.

With the truck idling, see how much air is being drawn in. Then rev it up and see if it is pulling a lot more air.

Also, another thing to look at is for bugs and schmig in the radiator - you may be able to hose out all the dirt in the fins and see a marked improvement.
