Hello friends, I have an 86 F-150 4x4 with 100k on it. The steering is crap and flat wore out. Frankly, I've never been happy with the steering. As such, I'm replacing it all. I'm curious about steering stabilizers. My truck did not come from the factory with one, but it seems that some did. I have the stock wheels/tires on my truck and I don't off road it much. Wondering if the addition of a steering stabilizer will aid in the steering and help preserve the new front end parts??? Thoughts? If you were to add one, what would you recommend?
They will help no question, especially on rough roads at speed such as on gravel and will mitigate some of the shimmy/flex inherent in the TIB steering system instead of letting the steering box absorb it all. But they will not fix or mask worn out parts.

Thanks matt, is there a bolt in unit you would recommend?
Well as for a bolt in they are all pretty much the same it is one of those thing that everyone has their preference. I think Tuff Country still makes a kit for these trucks. (Just checked they do)
I'm sure others will chime in what they have used/ installed.
Last steering damper I had was on a Toyota 4x4, so I have no Ford specific experience, but I did see them when looking at Moog suspension parts the other day.
