F250 I.D. Help
help, my door sticker reads; wb 133 typ 268 body DH4 trans K axle 73 spring 7K. my vin reads; 1FTHF2619EPA06844 , what does it all mean? any help would be a blessing, thanx , john

I can give you this much. I can not verify the accuracy of this info, this is just what my book says, according to the VIN number you listed.

1FT > Ford Motor Company, USA
H > 8,501 - 9,000 lb GVWR
F26 > F - 250, 4 wheel drive
1 > 420 CID, 6.9L Diesel 1983 -1986
9 > Check Digit ( Internal Usage )
E > 1984 Model Year
P > Twin Cities, MN, Assembly Plant
A06844 > Numerical Sequence of Assembly
K - code for trans -- C-6 automatic trans.
73 - axle code for a 84 is 3.54 gears
WB wheel base is 133" long -- long wheel base truck

Superdave, WOW you may have the key to the info I've been searching for. I have a '86 F250 460 XLT and no other information except the VIN number. I want to use it to haul a horse trailer and have been searching for all the abouve info. Can I get my hands on your source or will you look my VIN up for me?

The VIN number won't tell you anything about the transmission or axles. You need to post the door codes to get any info on those.
The axle information can also be gotten by looking at the tag hanging off one of the bolts on the differential cover. If it's 4x4, the front tag will tell you the same thing. It will look something like '3 55' for a 3.55 open axle. If it's LS, there will be an 'L' instead of the space.
To decode the VIN, just do a google search for ford truck vin decoder. You should have the info you need pretty quickly.
