diagram for diagnostic output plug??
I'm trying to pull codes on a 2000 explorer xlt 4door, does anyone know the jumper configuration (diagram) on the data plug to use the trouble light as a diagnostic indicators??

Need a scan tool to access trouble codes. Many autozone stores scan troublecodes free of charge. It's unwise to replace a component because of a code alone. Further diagnosis is usually needed. Find the code and post back.

My explorer limped into Aamco yesterday where they pulled the codes at no cost. Nothing showed up however, they told me they needed to tear down the tranny to find out what's happening. I told them thanks and picked it up later and took it to a different shop. Was quoted a lot less on a tranny rebuild (if needed). The problem was that while accelerating, it wanted to down shift into the previous gear for no reason. It wouldn't do it all the time which is why we thought it was a computer related problem. Aamco said no, so it's now sitting at another tranny shop. The explorer is a 2000 xlt, with 54k miles, and has NEVER been used for towing. I'm the original owner and the first 2 years I owned it the car only had highway miles, no commuting whatsoever and I babied it.

Just bought the Autotap scanner tool.
Awesome, and not very expensive.
Cars from 1996 till now need a scannertool for trouble code reading.
Check autotap.com website for more information, worked fabulous on my 1996 4.0 explorer.
