is it worth it?

84 bronco
manual tranny (4gear I believe)
some rust on tailgate and fenders
needs an engine-had a 302
otherwise in fairly good condition
no lift w/stock size tires
no known mods
$500.0

the rust is no biggie- i can easily get the panels and have connections for a mig
so do ya think its worth it?

An OK price, but as stated I would try to go lower. Without the vehicle in running condition, it is hard to determine if the tranny/t-case/rear end, etc are Ok.

I know that it is a 4x4 and that it is completely operational cause I know the guy, he was selling it for a tad over $1000 when the engine started to really knock on a test drive- that guy didn't buy it, but imagine if he did! but after the engine let go he dropped the price to 500. would starting at an offer of $350 be a good place to start?

If you're looking for a project, go for it! It doesn't get much easier to locate or build a carbed 302, and you've got something a bit different with the manual tranny (I love mine!). With it being stock height, etc., it may have seen an easier life (as compared to one lifted, with big tires). While this isn't always a given, I'd trust buying the stock height truck before the lifted. Offer $350 and see what happens.
