Like I was saying in your other thread, you have a cool truck. 600K miles is cool. You have a good background. You've been taught to take care of stuff. Let this truck be cool in its own right and get a newer truck to hot rod. How many windshields has this truck been through?
These guys love their trucks, and they love modifying their trucks, and they mean well … but: You gotta make the choice that's best for you.
Face it, a 7.3 modded to run with a 6.0 is less reliable than an updated 6.0. OOPS, sorry guys, did I say that out loud? A 600K mile modded truck ??? Gotta be kidding.
I think you came over here just looking for someone to agree with what you already decided you wanted to do. And that's ok but start saving for another engine or another truck.
actually i completely agree with your sentiment and i was truly on the fence, i didnt come here looking for agreement i was looking for a reason not to and a good case as to why, the best idea i have seen so far is to do a compression test and oil analysis and make a judgement call. i did end up ordering the injectors with the tuner and the oil analysis will determine how hard i push it if at all, i can say for certainty that the stock tune is the way to go for the foreseeable future and maybe turning it up a tad when i want to have a bit if fun. With a 200k 5yr warranty i figure ill be putting those into a refreshed block (hopefully getting the one on the truck refreshed) in a year or two. Your absolutely right a 600k truck with tunes is laughable. but considering i havent put even 100k on the thing since i was handed the truck i dont see me running through the warranty. It has been through 2 or 3 windshields i think, i honestly dont know. The current one is very cracked we just dont replace them that often. Needs an oil change at the moment and a trans fluid change trans is at about 120k was fully built at the last shop for whatever thats worth.
6.0s are so underrated they really are a good engine

I have baby swamps. They run great. Get their tune too if you can afford it. EGT gauge is a must. I run mine in stock mode 90 percent of the time. When I tow I use the tow setting on the chip. Makes a huge difference. My truck was frustrating slow towing a 2 car gooseneck. The tune changes it (along with some water meth for pulling hills at speed). Now if you get the injectors, then run a race tune and you're hammer down all the time, you're likely going to break something. Can't beat them for towing. My truck has a pretty good amount of blowby when you do the oil cap test. Sadly I had a oiling issue with my turbo manifold that did some damage. Even with that it still runs strong. With 600K perhaps you get the injectors, and hope they stay together when the engine fails, and you're that much farther ahead when you get the replacement in there.
