I've got a problem on my 66 f100. The wipers stick every time they reach the end of their left stroke. They started doing this after I replaced the blade assemblies. I've put the old blades back on but still sticking. Anyone have this problem and found a fix????
Was the action of the wipers loose and sloppy?
The linkage arms have bushings in the pivots. These can go bad, and the linkage will wear. It usually just gets real loose, but I'm wondering if it could jam as well.
The linkage arms are visible from under the dash. They have clips that slide on to hold the arms to the pivots. Not too hard to take apart and have a look. You can't replace the bushings; the linkage arm will need replaced.
I rip em' otta there! The pivots wear out and get loose, the transmission arms do the same. The switch goes bad and the single speed motor is a real PITA. Doesn't have to be that way. Pivots are available from Carpenter and I have had luck finding transmission arms in the Junk Yard. I think Carpenter has these as well. Use a late model two speed motor (4) wire, big switch with the ground wire and a variable regulator for two speed with intermittant wipe. Adapt your **** or a new one from Carpenter to the switch and you are in business. Don't lose those little clips for the transmission arms, they are hard to get.
