I have an 04 f350 with a 6.0 with 86000 miles on it. when on a trip towing my fifthwheel it used a gallon of coolant never ran hot now is blowing white smoke from the tailpipe and no leaks
Before doing anything else get a new degas tank (radiator) cap they are known to get weak. Also get a pressure gauge, 0-25lb is enough, and tee it into one of the small hoses that come off the degas tank and see what the pressure is, run it up to temp and release the cap to vent and then go for a drive and see if it builds any excess pressure, ie over 16lbs. My '03 with EGR delete never gets over 8lbs, even towing a 16K 5'r. If you see more than 16 the cap will vent and you will have to determine if you indeed have a leaking EGR cooler or head gasket problems.
Unless you drained the head prior to removal, you may have spilled coolant into that cylinder.
From the symptoms you're describing there was an easier ways to determine which of the two problems you were experiencing.
Visual Inspection-Pull the EGR valve, if you notice sticky, wet carbon, chances are you need to replace/delete the EGR cooler and replace the oil cooler.
Pressure test- Hook a gauge in line between the degas bottle and radiator. While driving monitor the pressure under hard acceleration. If the pressure rises quickly past 16 psi, the EGR cooler needs to be replaced. If the pressure slowly rises past 16 psi, chances are the heads have lifted.
Regardless, since you're this far in and have already pulled the driver head, you may as well do the heads and headgaskets. If you plan on staying with the stock setup, Felpro headgaskets and ARP studs seem to go together like peas and carrots. Just make sure to machine the heads and follow ARP's instructions for the torque sequence and specs. After talking to one of the Engineers for 2 hours, I've learned there's a very clear method to their madness and 210 is all that's needed.
Don't you need to lift the cab in order to remove the heads? I've seen them in the air at auto shops. The diesel tech said it wasn't that bad to lift the cab.

It's much easier, but you don't have to.
You can pull both heads cab on, you just need to pull the AC box on the passenger side and you have all the room in the world.
replaced headgaskets and egr cooler had it running for couple hours it shut off and now will only run if you spray brake cleaner into the intake checked fuel pressure it has good pressure can anyone help
