Compliments from strangers

Has anyone else experienced complete strangers approaching you to compliment you on your truck? After a year of ownership I can't count how many strangers have said "Nice truck"..... I have to agree with them of course. The best one I can remember was from the customer service rep at the Lexus dealership I went to for an inspection...... "If the Zombie apocalypse happens that's the truck I want!" too funny

I have. It's usually other Ford owners. Or people that don't own a truck.

Yep. Often.

I just bought my wife a new SUV last week and every dealership we stopped at the sales guy commented on the truck.

I have a couple of cool cars and the truck get waaaay more comments than the cars.

I have found myself engaging in many conversations with strangers over our truck. They go from nice truck, to that thing is sick. Some curious of the price tag, fuel economy and power. I won’t lie, I enjoy it. We spent a lot of money on it, it feels good when others take notice how nice it is. My wife on the other hand gets annoyed when a 15 minute trip to the hardware store turns into an hour BS’ing with the owner about the truck!

If you want attention try driving a Chevy SS sedan. It draws more confused looks and questions than any Corvette I previously owned.

My best complaint was a young teenage boy that was working the fast food line. He was bringing food out to vehicles at a Culver's. Each trip out he was blindsided staring at my truck. He would almost run into things. Lol! His 4th trip out was my food and he said sir I really love your truck. I said young man keep busting your a@@ working and you will have one someday as well. He lit out with a smile and said thanks sir.

It's kind of a standing joke at our house. I claimed I bought a chick magnet, but it turned out to be a magnet for guys older than me. One guy even followed us into and around the store for a bit to talk about it! We now call it the "old fart magnet".

I've had a few pass by my complimenting the truck, but most people ask me why I need a truck like that.

Lots of compliments on my 18. Some just seem to be in awe. But it’s got a lot of catching up to do if it wants to compete with my 2001 XR650L. For some reason that bike has generated all kinds of interest from complete strangers for the entire 17 years I’ve been riding it. I was surrounded once by a group of Harley guys while we were boarding the ferry. As soon as we got parked, they all wanted to check it out and ask questions. It’s like people have never seen a dirt bike (using that term very loosely) with a license plate.

These SD's are head turners for sure. Pretty much every time I go out I see people checking it out - rolling through intersections, gas stations, parking lots, etc. Lots of other truck owners will go out of their way to weave through traffic to get up next to mine to give it the once over. I have to admit, before I bought mine I was doing the same thing to every SD I saw on the road. They are easily the best looking truck on the road right now. And all it takes is leveling the front and some beefier tires to make them look like other trucks with a 4" lift.

It was bad in Nov, 2016 when the first ones were just showing up on dealer lots. I'd come out of the store and there would be 2-3 guys circling the truck gawking.

I've had many a person comment on the 450 in the campgrounds. I had one guy pull up beside me in a 350 DRW pulling a boat give me a 30 second full on double thumbs up going down the I95, while pulling the 5th wheel to Disney.

My brother in law pulls a 28 foot TT a few weekends a year with his 2013 F150. After he saw my truck he started planning for a 2019 purchase of a SD. I'll say I do love the exterior looks of these trucks. I like that Ford went more angular with sharper lines than the last SD body style. I've never been into the rounded look of cars and trucks.

My truck is stock except for a few minor things and I get comments all the time especially when at the fuel station or in an RV campground. The first year I had it, every time we pulled into a campground someone would come over to look it over and ask questions.
