those nerf bars on that old chevy look alot like the receiver hitch steps...it shouldn't be too hard to fab up brackets...

Project COMPLETED

3 long years later, we finally picked it up and brought it home.. Quality work takes time (covid didn't help). I want to thank Executive Automotive Service in Ocala, Florida for all of the hard work and dedication to this build.. Here is a link to the video.

That's a gorgeous truck!

Can you tell me about the engine's crankcase ventilation? On the passenger side valve cover, I see a standard PCV valve with hose routed to the back of the intake manifold or carburetor. But on the driver's side valve cover, I see what appears to be a crankcase evac hose going to the exhaust. Am I seeing that correctly? I've never seen both a PCV valve & an exhaust pulled evac setup used together.

I'm more than a little curious about it. I just built a 502" engine (460 block), and I'm worried that the 12" of vacuum it makes isn't enough for positive crankcase ventilation (PCV). I was considering going with an evac setup on the exhaust, but have been told that's not a great idea for a street engine. I knew the engine would have low vacuum, so I planned ahead on the brakes, as I see you did. I have a hydroboost system ready to install.

Very nice in every way. The paint color is fabulous and the straightness of the body panels is amazing. But why is there a Washington plate on the front bumper?
I live near Ocala so hope to see it in person one day. There are lots of car shows in this area when weather and public health are not prohibitive.

That was the tag that was on the truck when we purchased it. We live in the Florida panhandle now, but there is a good chance we will come down for a show or two. Stop by the shop, they will be glad to show you around. Executive Automotive. One good thing about being in Ocala is, NPD restoration parts is right there..

Rich,

what have you considered for insurance as you mentioned daily driving this truck?

seems like the specialty classic coverage doesn’t allow daily driving, and daily driving levelninsurance doesn’t cover restored classics but instead book value.

truck looks incredible snd I am sure you want to protect your investment.

John

Hagerty insurance. The truck progressed throughout the build to what it is now, so the term "daily driver" might not apply.. But it certainly will NOT be a garage/trailer queen. We will enjoy it.

Bummer.

was hoping you could steer me to right place as I finish up my 64.5 mustang DD this spring.

Haven’t figured out the right insurance coverage yet for DD.

That is who I have on my 81 F100 flare side I did a 4 year cab off frame rebuild on.
I built it as a driver, in 2 years got 17k on it, but did not want normal insurance if it got wrecked.
I was able to set an agreed amount and can up that if I want at any time.
I dont remember what the cost is but can you really set a limit for insurance for a replacement truck?

Also note beside some insurance telling you where it has to be stored when not driven and limit when, where and how much you can drive some states special plates also limit you when, where and how much you can drive. I run normal plates on my truck.

I think the insurance Co. knows when & where you will be driving your car / truck and figure it would not be 100% of the time and even less in bad weather.
If I know it will rain I will not take my truck to work but if at work and is raining it is driven home in the rain. Dose not go out in ice & snow what little we get!
