Oil Pan leak

I have a 1989 E-150 with a 5.8L Windsor. I had the valve cover gaskets changed because they were leaking very badly. I still have a leak from the oil pan gasket that needs to be fixed. I'm told by my mechanic that a "cross member" makes this a very difficult (expensive) job. I'm told the engine has to be "jacked-up" which I fear may cause other problems. Is there a better (i.e. cheaper) way to address this problem? Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

Oil Pan leak

I've changed one in a pick-up with V-8. All you need to do is loosen the motor mounts a little and lift the engine a couple inches. I unbolted the oil pickup tube and left it in the pan, swapped gaskets, and reinstalled the tube and tightened the mounts. There shouldn't be any after effects unless he is careless and lifts the engine too high and breaks/bends something.
