Looking at a 2018
biggest problem is I cant justify $80k for a truck.
j thought I would ask here if there is anything I should know before I dive in to the debt river?
I have done a lot of research so I do believe the new fords are the best ever. Any problems I should know about?
BTW, I do want the f450 because of the tighter turning circle, and I have a very heavy camper so the 19.5 tires and wheels and larger brakes are important to me. I have a 2011 F450 king ranch now and really like it, but I will retire in less than 9 years, and dont want a truck payment after that, so either buy now, or never
If you can comfortably afford it and won’t hate writing a check every month or a cash when you buy it... go for it. But A basic f450 can be had for 50k, and modest comforts for 55.
I would assess your finances carefully before a discretionary 25-30k. That much in stocks pre-tax vs a debt post-tax will mean a nice chunk of change when you retire.
I spent an extra 25k in options and trim level than I could have gotten away with, so I’m not saying you can’t do it if it’s worth it to you. I looked at my situation and decided it was worth it. But only after knowing I could comfortably afford it given my absence of debt on other vehicles, ability to pay cash, and tax benefits.
these things are expensive, and the purchase price is just the beginning!
I'm in the same boat, and a gaser XLT is just fine for us, and I sleep good.
