OT: Here is what I've been working on the last few days

Not truck related except that it did take me away from working on my trucks. But I did use my trucks to get stuff at Lowe's. And I did use my F350 to pull out the roots of a bush.

An older long time family friend is widowed and is preparing to sell her house. She and her deceased husband had a beautiful large backyard with a pool. Her husband put eight propane torches mounted on old porch posts in the backyard in 1973. Her son took them down recently to distribute to his siblings. He gave us one.

I put the wire wheel to the torch to get loose rust off then sprayed it with Rust Converter. Then I painted it with grille paint good up to 1400°F. I sanded and primered and painted the post. I ripped out an old forsythia bush. Then I put an old 5 gallon bucket in the ground and filled it with concrete to mount the post to. Today a guy from a local shop that sells gas logs and fireplaces came to expertly run copper tubing up the post to the torch and into my garage where my 20 gallon propane tank is. I didn't want to mess with anything that can go Boom if not done correctly.

Here's what it looked like tonight.

Jim,
That is some awesome history of your rare boats. I am a landlubber and never heard of a Snipe, except for when people con others into "Snipe hunting."

Good luck with your boat and the show.

Here is my torch in the daylight:

Abe, your touch is beautiful--a true work of art and a great remembrance of your friend. Her pool must have been really something with 8 of these beauties for lighting.

Her backyard was a thing of beauty in its prime. It was beautifully landscaped. But as Bert got older and sick he could not keep up with the maintenance. Our wedding reception was there 33 years ago. And no one got thrown in the pool.

Good point. I turn the tank off when not in use. The tech that ran the lines for me said it was OK since its not living quarters.
