Many of the aftermarket VSS sensors cause more issues than the original. Common causes of wavering speedometer is bad bearings in the rear axle, damaged tone ring, bad wiring, faulty RABS control module, bad PSOM/loose components. The Speed Control module can cause issues with the buffered signal out of the PSOM too. Still worth a shot to pull out the VSS and look for signs of metal shavings to start with.
Adjusted the fipl closed and fully rotated only got 1.18 out of it but the shifts are firmer feels much better, also checked the vss it looked good to fluid was a little low in the rear diff so I topped it off while I was there, may just leave it until it gets worse it only fluctuate about 1mph either way. Two more things off the top of my head starting it's a 7.3 idi with an epump back by the fuel tank and the line bypassed around the block pump, when it's cold if I cycle the plugs twice and then hit the key it fires right up a little white smoke for about 20 seconds, but when I shut it off for 5 to 10 mins and go to restart it wait for plugs to cycle it cranks for quite awhile before it starts any ideas? Also where is a good place to order floor pans and front floor support for it, something that fits like it should, thanks again for all the help
I am not a diesel expert, cannot answer any of those questions. As far as the FIPL sensor is concerned the output looks low. If it were mine, I would replace it.
Of light is back , only thing different this time was it was later in the evening last night was at a friend's across town, was dark when we left so turned the headlights on , and as soon as it shifted it was back on and shifting hard again. Will pull the codes tonight as long as it's not raining. Almost think it has to be something with wiring. Never drove it at night before and it went almost 300 miles since the nss was replaced,
