the rotors are warped on my 98 eb. Does anybody have suggestions a for a rplacement rotor that is better than Ford's? It appears from comments here, warping is a common problem.
Does anyone know if you have to replace the hub assembly as well? The mechanic I called said that his book showed rotors with and without a hub assembly, and that if you had to replace thehub assembly then labor would be a lot more. Also, if I were to buy some rotors and pads from ART would you just take them to the local garage to put them on. I don't think I've got the tools, time, or talent to do the job myself.

98 rotor replacement
Hubs -- No.
Take to mechanic -- Yes. Although there are instructions floating around here somewhere in this forum. Not too hard to do. Get a buddy to help give you some moral support & limit the amount of beer you consume during the task, and you'll be fine. Don't need a lot of tools.
They are not hard kinda a b***h to get the caliper back on not bad just not easy, that and you need a Torx's dont remember the size. Dont use a allen wrench cough cough like someone here did. I rebuilt my calipers last time cost me 27 bucks for all parts, you can do a google search I know Oriellys sells parts online. My Uncle works for a big city and they use Expy's as cop cars and he's bought 1000's of rotors and that's where he suggest. But as Haroutd suggest there's better rotors out there even better than motorcraft's but your going to pay a 75 bucks or better for them. Now pads I have the heavy duty's from autozone and replaced them 3 times now they come with a lifetime warranty. My uncle's suggestion also, I pay for them each time then take the old ones back and they refund my money no hassle's. You can exchange them first but take the chance of taking them off and they are outta of stock even if you call first.
I am a mechanic, and the ones ive changed the only problem i saw was getting the rotor off the hub.The inside of the rotor and outside of the hub are so close to the same size that they rust together and are a real bugger to get apart.
