I have an 86 F250. Continuous problems. Fouling up plugs. I had the original Holley carb. I pulled off today and put on an Edelbrock I had taken off my other truck. There was nothing wrong with it. It has been sitting for a few years however. The truck ended up getting hydrolocked. It filled the cylinders with fuel!!! Nuts. Do I need to do anything changing over from the Holley to the Edelbrock? Or perhaps something is stuck open on the Edelbrock from it sitting for a few years?
The ethanol fuel as sat in the carb on the shelf and gummed it all up. It will need to be taken apart and rebuilt. If you are going to let anything sit around that has ethanol fuel in it, you need to drain it, treat it with stabil, or run some non-ethanol fuel through it. Lawnmowers, boats, snowblowers, anything that sits around has the same problem.
P.S. Hopefully you did not hurt the engine (bent rod) by hydro locking it.
