Soliciting help with issues (rant)
I don't understand why people ask for a solution to a problem and after numerous thoughtful, often practical, helpful posts, the OP says, "Screw it, I'm going to just drive it until the bailing wire suspension repair the PO did breaks", and abandons the thread.

It's just the nature of the internet, it happens on all forums, not just automotive forums.

The most common that I see is called confirmation bias. The question is often asked with the hope that people will agree with the back asswards solution they want to try, whether or not the hill billy engineering solution is mentioned. Often times this is the cheapest possible route. They know that it is sketchy before they even ask, but if they can get others to say it's OK, then it must be so. Rather than getting the answer they wanted to hear, the voices of reason and common sense form a nice chorus and so they bail. As the old saying goes: you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make 'em drink.
The caveat here is that there is often some confirmation bias in the answers. It worked for me or this is the way I did it, so it must be THE ONLY answer. If you get both in the same thread, that's when the pissing match starts and thus the "screw it" final post.
x3 for the resolution marking. Admins, are you listening? Get on it!

There is a forum of sorts that I use for work that does something similar. It is designed for professional auto technicians to discuss issues with their peers. The forum requires you to close posts with solutions or else be banned from posting again. If you are banned, you must provide a solution to all your unclosed posts before being allowed to post again. If you have not come to a solution, you still must provide some sort of closing post such as what has been done or what is being planned to be done.
